NA Highlight: Multi-scale methods for wave propagation

A new type of multi-scale numerical method for simulation of wave problems has been developed and analyzed.

Wave propagation in rapidly varying heterogeneous media is very computationally costly to simulate by traditional techniques because the smallest scales must be represented over the whole simulation domain. In this project a new type of multi-scale numerical method for simulation of such wave problems has been developed and analyzed whose computational cost is independent of the micro-scale size.
