Location: Electrum Building, Kistagången 16, Kista
Time: 9:00-16:00 February 25
Big data technology is a making inroads in both business and science. Data-driven science and business is changing how we do business and perform research. However, Big Data technology is a moving target, with new applications and releases at a tremendous pace. In particular for Hadoop and Spark, documentation is lacking and knowledge tends to remain in the heads of project contributors. Luckily, at this workshop will have committers to major Big Data projects on hand to help you in a practical introduction to Hadoop and Spark. We will even help you get started with credits for a new Hadoop-as-a-Service provided by Swedish ICT – SICS North.
The day will be broken up into two parts. Before lunch, we will have talks introducing some of the main technology components for Big Data: Hadoop, Spark, Streaming Analytics, and Machine Learning. After lunch, we will split up into tracks in smaller groups, where you will get hands on experience in your platform of choice. Bring your laptop!
