Artificial intelligence for diagnosis and grading of prostate cancer in biopsies
We published an article entitled “Artificial intelligence for diagnosis and grading of prostate cancer in biopsies: a population-based, diagnostic study” in Lancet Oncology (https://doi.org/10.1016/S1470-2045(19)30738-7; impact factor=35). This landmark study demonstrates that artificial intelligence (AI) using deep learning can accurately classify prostate biopsy cores as being either cancer or not cancer. Moreover, AI can perform as well as world-class pathologists in predicting the prognostic category for men diagnosed with prostate cancer. The first author, Peter Ström, was financially supported by SeRC, and the last author, Martin Eklund, and Mattias Rantalainen are eCPC investigators.
