Climate Modeling
Climate change is a research area at the forefront of public attention and with challenging problems. The tools used are climate models that describe the coupled land-atmosphere-ocean system, based on physical laws. Climate models are utilized to understand fundamental processes underlying climate change and variability and to project future changes. Scientists within the Bert Bolin Centre for Climate Research that involves scientist from SU, KTH and Rossby Centre at SMHI make extensive use of e-science based modeling tools. Computational resources, both hardware and scientific computing expertise, at both PDC and NSC are utilized in these extensive efforts.
