Project description
The successful candidate will work on a software framework around a single-column model (SCM) version of a global climate model, the EC-Earth (ecearth.knmi.nl). A SCM is a column of the global model that can run on its own but with exactly the same parameterizations that are used in the global model. The project will involve creating a database for observational data as well as a web-interface for running the SCM simultaneously at many locations and statistically evaluating the results.
The position is financed through the Strategic Research Initiative in e-science (www.e-science.se) and will be placed at the Department of Meteorology (www.misu.su.se) and will take part in the Bert Bolin Centre for Climate Research (www.bbcc.su.se).
The applicant should have a PhD in Scientific computing, Meteorology or Atmospheric Science or similar qualifications.
Assessment criteria
In the appointment process special weight will be given to scientific proficiency.
