Post-doctoral position in meteorology at the Department of Meteorology. Reference number SU 619-1666-11. Deadline for applications: August 8, 2011.
Project description
The successful candidate will work on developing an efficient single-column model (SCM) version of EC-Earth (ecearth.knmi.nl). A SCM is a column of the global model that can run on its own but with exactly the same parameterizations that are used in the global model. The project will involve compiling relevant observational data for evaluation of the EC-Earth system using the SCM framework and will also organize a model inter-comparisons within the GEWEX GABLS/GLASS framework.
The position is financed through the Strategic Research Initiative in e-science (www.e-science.se) and will be placed at the Department of Meteorology (www.misu.su.se) and will take part in the Bert Bolin Centre for Climate Research (www.bbcc.su.se).
The applicant should have a PhD in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science, or similar qualifications, and preferably have an experience in analyzing climate simulations.
Assessment criteria
In the appointment process special weight will be given to scientific proficiency.
