Electronic: Visualization tool for electronic structure calculations

Visualization tools are important not only for interpreting and presenting data, but also for analyzing problems and choosing strategy when approaching a complex problem. Together with Anders Ynnerman (Professor) at LiU, we aim at developing an electronic structure visualization table, in line with the by Ynnerman developed virtual autopsy table (see e.g. Ynnerman’s TED talk http://bit.ly/hWy78i). As an example, this tool will greatly facilitate the visualization of how one material might grow on top of another and how different growth geometries affect the electronic properties. The user can change the geometry by mere pointing using the same technique as the one in smart phones. Calculations will then be performed on the system in real time and the electronic properties displayed.
